by September 16, 2016

Afternoon rain showers washed out qualifying for the first Chase race of the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400, on Friday.

Per the NASCAR rulebook, the lineup for Sunday’s 267-lap race will be set by owner points entering the event.

With the point standings being reset with this race weekend being the first of the Chase, Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch will lead the field to green with Team Penske’s Brad Keselowski starting alongside on the front row.

Rounding out the top-10 for Sunday’s starting grid will be Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards, Martin Truex Jr., Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson, Joey Logano and Kyle Larson.

With 40 cars entered for the race weekend, no team was sent home following the cancellation of qualifying early Friday afternoon.

Qualifying was to be the final on-track session of the day for the Sprint Cup garage, thus the series will be looking to make its Chicagoland on-track debut tomorrow morning for practice at 9:30 a.m CT.

Final practice for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400 is scheduled for a 12:30 p.m CT start on Saturday.
