Sprint Showdown And NC Education Lottery 200 Postponed To Saturday At Charlotte Motor Speedwayby Hunter Thomas May 20, 2016
CONCORD, N.C. – With all on-track activity being washed out at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Friday, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Sprint Showdown and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series NC Education Lottery 200 will run on Saturday, along with the Sprint All-Star Race.
Mother Nature just didn’t let up on Friday as rain and mist soaked the speedway all day long. NASCAR and track officials tried their best to dry the racing surface, but they were unable to. A full schedule is now set for Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
The day will kick-off with Sprint All-Star practice at 9:30 a.m. ET., followed by the Sprint Showdown at 11 a.m. ET. The format consists of two, 20-lap segments and a final 10-lap segment. At 10:05 a.m. ET, the teams competing in the Sprint All-Star Race will practice their pit road strategy for qualifying later in the day.
At 12:30 p.m. ET, the 134-lap NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race will get underway. William Byron and Spencer Gallagher will bring the field down to the green flag. The starting lineup was determined by Thursday’s practice.
Sprint All-Star qualifying will begin at 7:10 p.m. ET. Each driver will have three laps and a pit stop to complete their run. Driver introductions for the Sprint All-Star will be at 8:35 p.m. ET., and the 113-lap race will start at 9 p.m. ET.
All of Saturday’s on-track activity will broadcast live on FOX Sports 1 (FS1).
