Mason Mitchell Looks to Extend Point Lead at Berlin Racewayby Press Release August 6, 2014

(Mooresville, N.C. August 6, 2014-) Mason Mitchell and his Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM) team bring their largest point lead (75) of the season heading into Saturday nights Federated Auto Parts 200 at Berlin Raceway. Mitchell reclaimed the points lead last weekend at Pocono Raceway after Grant Enfinger was caught up in a lap 13 incident. Mitchell and Enfinger have traded the points lead in five of the last six ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards events. Mitchell’s team has found success on short tracks in 2014 earning three top-five finishes along five top-ten’s in six starts.
“You have to get into a rhythm quick at Berlin. It feels like your always turning and never really going straight here” Mitchell stated. “You have to use patience and not use up your equipment. Two years ago this race went 161 laps without a caution. Berlin is one of my favorite short tracks and I believe we have a shot at the win come Saturday night.”
Mitchell at Berlin Raceway: Mason Mitchell has two prior starts at Berlin earning two top-five finishes with a best finish of fifth twice. Last year Mitchell set a new track record in qualifying turning a lap of 16.781 seconds.
Short Track Stats: Mason Mitchell isn’t a stranger when it comes to short tracks in the ARCA Racing Series. In 18 starts Mitchell’s earned eight top-five’s and fifteen top-ten’s with an average finish of 7.4.
Pocono Raceway Review: Mitchell captured his third Menards pole award presented by Ansell in 2014 for the ModSpace 125. Mitchell led the opening three laps before settling in the third position. During the afternoon’s longest green flag run Mitchell was forced to pit on lap 38 for fuel. After pit-stops cycled around Mitchell crossed the finish line in the seventh position.
Chassis: Mitchell will pilot chassis No. 588 at Berlin. Chassis 588 has five starts in 2014 season. The chassis’ earned two top-five fives, four top-ten’s with a best finish of second (Toledo) and a worst finish of 20th (LOR).
