RICHMOND, Va. — Ryan Newman jumped up from 18th-quickest in Friday morning’s first practice for the Toyota Owners 400 to the top of the speedchart at the conclusion of this afternoon’s final practice.

The Richard Childress owned No. 31 Chevrolet SS was the only Earnhardt-Childress Racing-powered Chevrolet to turn a top-10 lap time; an impressive feat considering there were eight Chevrolets that posted a top-10 lap time.

Kyle Larson, who paced this morning’s practice session, landed himself in ninth-place in final practice during a race-trim run. Chip Ganassi Racing teammate Jamie McMurray ran the 10th-quickest time in final practice, showing that the team have brought strong cars for both qualifying and for the race.

Absent from the top-10 were Toyota. After putting both of their cars in the top-six in practice this morning, Michael Waltrip Racing’s cars’ pace fell off in race-trim as Brian Vickers ran the 15th-fastest final practice time while Clint Bowyer fell to 25th on the speedchart.
